Drivers warned to expect delays after water main bursts and floods busy city centre road

Motorists have been warned to prepare for delays in the Frog Island area of Leicester city centre today and over the weekend after a burst water main flooded the road and pavement in Sanvey Gate.

The road, near to the Highcross shopping centre car park, is used by buses and other traffic heading from the north of the city centre out on the A50 towards Coalville.

It is currently down to one lane and there was some congestion in the area this morning. There are temporary three-way traffic lights in operation.

Repair work is underway and is expected to be completed over the weekend, according to Leicester's Area Traffic Control office, which monitors traffic levels and incidents across the city and county.
