Lincoln Cathedral has received a Capital Kickstart Fund award of £973,600 from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.

The grant will be used to complete the conversion of the Old Deanery at Lincoln Cathedral in to a new fully accessible visitor centre, complete with exhibition spaces, a learning centre, shop, café and landscaped gardens.

The taxpayer-funded scheme aims to help cultural organisations bounce back from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

It builds on over £1 billion awarded to a huge range of cultural and heritage organisations from the Culture Recovery Fund last year.

Lincoln Cathedral is among 222 heritage organisations that will benefit from £13.5 million in targeted grants allocated by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

It aims to help regeneration and maintenance projects that were planned before the pandemic, and now face delays or increased costs.
