Emergency services were called to an incident in a Derbyshire town on Friday evening.

Both police cars and at least one ambulance were at the scene in Swadlincote Road in Woodville from just after 7pm.

Traffic was held up on the road as police and ambulance crews dealt with the situation but was moving again by 8pm. Police were also parked in adjacent Rose Hill while at the scene.

A passer-by who did not want to be named said: "I have seen quite a few police cars and ambulance vehicles. Looks pretty serious to be honest. It’s causing bad traffic in Swadlincote Road in both directions. I hope everyone is ok."

Derbyshire Live contacted Derbyshire police, who were unable to comment on the situation. It is hoped that there will be an update on the situation later.
