Armed police officers descended on a residential street in a Leicester neighbourhood after violent threats were made to the occupants of a house on Saturday (February 20).
Up to 10 squad cars - including armed response vehicles (AVR) with the Leicestershire Police Special Operations team and some unmarked police vehicles - headed for Central Avenue in the Clarendon Park area of the city.
It followed an emergency 999 call received by the force's incident room at lunchtime today.
A Leicestershire Police spokesman said that the alarm was raised shortly before 1pm, with armed officers deployed "as a precaution" on account of the perceived threat to the individuals concerned.
"We received a report that threats had been made towards the occupants of a property in Central Avenue, Leicester," he said.
"The threats were made to the occupants via telephone."
