Man jailed after being found with knife and drugs in Derbyshire street

A man has been jailed after he was found carrying a knife and drugs in a Derbyshire street.

Anthony Edgerton, of Eagle Parade, Buxton, was arrested by officers from Derbyshire police in Lightwood Road, Buxton.

They had been acting on a tip-off from a member of the public that the 42-year-old was carrying illegal items.

He was subsequently found to have a knife and a large quantity of Class A drugs by officers from Buxton Response and the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).

Police revealed Edgerton has now been jailed after being convicted of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, and having a bladed article or sharply pointed article in a public place.

He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Derby Crown Court.
