Boris Johnson has confirmed that football supporters can return from May 17 at the earliest.
As a result, fans could return for the final day of the Premier League season on May 23.
Johnson confirmed fans will be allowed back in stadiums from May 17, provisionally, which would allow up to 10,000 supporters or 25 per cent of capacity, whichever is the smaller, back inside grounds.
The Prime Minister made a statement to Parliament at 3:30pm and will host a televised press conference at 7pm, explaining his plans to ease restrictions on the country.
The first priority for the government is to reopen schools, which could come into effect as early as March 8. From a sporting perspective, outdoor organised sports for adults, such as football, golf and tennis, is expected to be permitted from March 29.
