'Lovebirds' and football fans get Covid fines from cops

Police had a busy night after finding people from three different counties had travelled to Derbyshire in three separate incidents.

Officers from Melbourne and Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) fined multiple people in locations in South Derbyshire for breaking lockdown rules on Sunday, February 21.

This included a number of couples, who met up in different location despite living in different parts of the country - as officers found people from Yorkshire, Birmingham and Buckinghamshire over the course of the night.

They also came across a group of men huddled together in a car watching a football match in another breach of the rules.

In a post on Facebook, officers said the theme of the night could be summed up with the phrase "what were you thinking?".
