There are more than 270 properties without power in the Stoneygate area of the city this afternoon after a cable fault.

Engineers are battling to get homes reconnected and at least one set of traffic lights - at the junction of Mayfield Road and London Road, next to Victoria Park - has gone off.

Roads where there are buildings without power include London Road, Mayfield Road, Ripon Street, Herschell Street, Kimberley Road and Devana Road.

Western Power Distribution is hopeful that power will be restored within the next couple of hours.
