College lecturer who died after being hit by train is named

The name of a man who died after being hit by a train at a Derbyshire station has been released by the authorities.

Richard Wilson, who worked as a college lecturer, died as a result of the incident which took place at Dronfield Railway Station on Friday, February 19.

An inquest into the death of the 48-year-old, who was from Dronfield, was opened at Chesterfield Coroner's Court on Tuesday, February 23.

Mr Peter Nieto, area coroner for Derby and Derbyshire, said the train involved had been travelling from Nottingham to Liverpool and was making its way into Sheffield at the time of the incident.

He added there were no other witnesses apart from the driver of train.

The inquest was adjourned until a later date while further enquiries are carried out.
