A driver who was arrested after a car failed to stop for police yesterday is facing a lockdown fine, driving charges and possible deportation.

Numerous police vehicles were seen around the Fosse Road South area of Leicester's West End around 5pm yesterday.

A man was later seen being arrested at an address in Cherryleas Drive, near the Westcotes Health Centre.

LeicestershireLive contacted the police and the force said the driver of a car fled on foot after officers tried to pull the vehicle over.

Both the alleged driver and a second person who was allegedly a passenger in the car have been issued with £200 fines for breaching the lockdown rules.

The driver is also facing traffic offence charges and deportation.
