Hunt for man in green trousers seen 'pointing handgun' in Derbyshire street

Police have released details of a man who was reported to be "pointing a handgun" on a Derbyshire street.

Derbyshire Live reported on Monday how armed police officers were called to Ilkeston on Sunday night following reports of the man in possession of a firearm.

The incident happened close to the town's retail centre, near to Station Road.

However, despite the heavy presence of police officers and cars, the man could not be located.

Officers are still investigating the incident and are urging the public to come forward with information.

Derbyshire police have now provided a description of the man involved and believe at the time he was wearing green trousers.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "The force was called to reports of a man walking around with what appeared to be handgun in Mill Street, Ilkeston, at around 9.30pm on February 21.
