Supermarket worker threatened at knife-point during robbery at South Wigston store

A supermarket worker was threatened at knife-point during a robbery at a store in South Wigston last night.

Two men had entered the supermarket, in Blaby Road, before approaching the employee and demanding they hand over the shop's takings.

No-one was injured in the incident, however, a "quantity of cash" was stolen in the raid.

Detectives, who have not named the shop, have issued an appeal for the public's help to identify and trace those responsible.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "It was reported that at around 9.25pm two men entered a supermarket on Blaby Road, threatened a member of staff with a knife and demanded cash.

"A quantity of cash was stolen and no injuries were reported. A witness then saw two men leave the supermarket and run along Fairfield Street."

The shop worker managed to provide investigators with a description of the robbers.
