Exciting plans to give Lincoln Central Market a big revamp have been announced..

An application was submitted last month proposing a major refurbishment of the Grade II Listed market building, which sits in Sincil Street

If approved one of the city's historic venues would be completely modernised to create a new updated and vibrant market, that will combine retail, food, leisure and technology.

The existing toilets and the butchers-fishmongers corridor would be demolished and replaced with new facilities.

The butchers and the wet fish shop would relocate to underneath a mezzanine dining area to the west of the site.

Funding was first secured back in December, with planning permission the final major hurdle for the city council.

This was obtained through the Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) programme.
