Residents in the rural Derwent Valley have reported what appeared to be a “police raid” including armed officers and dogs at a controversial caravan site.
They say the alleged raid, which started at 11.11am this morning, involved a handful of police vehicles, armed officers and dogs.
Haytop Country Park, across the valley from Whatstandwell, between Belper and Matlock, is at the centre of a public inquiry into decades of controversy.
The Government planning inspector, who led the inquiry in early February, is yet to publish their decision.
Residents have described the site as a scar on the Derwent Valley, including illegal tree felling - for which the owner was found guilty through the courts - and the transformation of the area from a “sleepy” caravan site into a holiday lodge complex.
