Police appeal for information following assault in Derbyshire town

Derbyshire police have called upon residents for information after an assault over the weekend.

Leaflets were posted through the doors of locals on May Street, Ilkeston, relating to officers' investigation of the incident, which happened at around 11pm on Saturday, May 1.

A resident in the area told Derbyshire Live that multiple police cars attended the incident at the time, with leaflets being posted the next day.

The road was reportedly closed while officers were in attendance, but was reopened by morning.

In the document delivered on the street, it says: "Police are investigating an assault that happened on May Street, Ilkeston, approx. 11pm on May 1, 2021.

"If you saw or heard anything of this incident, or have any additional information, please make contact, where an officer will discuss further with you.

"Alternatively, report anonymously to Crimestoppers - occurrence number: 21000239975."
