A 12-year-old boy has appeared in court as a result of a violent argument with his mother about a mobile phone.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, flew off the handle on multiple occasions during arguments with his mum.
In one of these he brandished a hammer and threatened to kill her, while on another occasion he punched her multiple times.
He also punched a hole into a door and destroyed a glass candle topper during his fits of rage.
He appeared before Southern Derbyshire Youth Court charged with common assault, criminal damage and threats to kill.
Prosecutors told magistrates' that he was appearing in court charged with specific incidents which took place in Swadlincote.
The first of these took place on December 11, last year, after a disagreement over the boy taking a mobile phone.
