2 older dogs search for forever home as Dogs Trust urges people to adopt 'OAPs'

A pet rehoming charity is urging people to consider adopting older dogs when looking for a new canine companion.

Throughout lockdown, the demand for puppies has soared, with Google searches for buying a puppy increasing by 213 per cent after the first lockdown was announced in March 2020.

Plenty of families have already welcomed puppies into their homes, and there are many more animal lovers thinking of welcoming a four-legged friend into their life.

But instead of opting for a young puppy, Dogs Trust in Loughborough is urging people to consider giving an older dog their perfect retirement home.

Ten-year-old shar pei brothers Mack and Ted are two of the older residents - dubbed 'Older Age Pooches', or OAPs, by the charity - at the trust's Loughborough centre who are looking for somewhere to rest their paws.
