Lincolnshire hospitals declare 'major incident' as some planned operations are postponed for 48 hours

Lincolnshire hospitals have reacted to a situation of 'extremely high demand' tonight (Tuesday) by declaring a 'major incident'.

Just over a week ago, on January 3, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust declared a 'critical incident' due to staff shortages.

Tonight, the United Lincolnshire hospitals NHS trust (ULHT), which is responsible for four hospitals, says the high demand is down to multiple different issues including COVID pressures and an issue with water supply at Grantham and District Hospital.

As a result, it has announced, some planned operations and outpatient appointments at Lincoln County Hospital will be postponed for the next 48 hours.
