Aldi has promised to offer the lowest prices across all UK supermarkets following its "best ever" Christmas sales.
The store hailed its success in December as a trading rebound around the festive period gave shops a much-needed boost.
The discount chain revealed its sales increased by 0.4% against the same month last year, when grocery sales were buoyed by restrictions and lockdown measures impact a number of competitor sectors, according to Birmingham Live.
Aldi says that figures from research firm Kantar show it was the "only major supermarket" to increase its sales for the month.
Giles Hurley, chief executive of Aldi UK, said: "There's no doubt that 2021 was a long and difficult year for lots of people, but our amazing colleagues stopped at nothing as they came together to deliver the Christmas that our customers deserved.
