Councillors are to make a landmark decision this evening on whether or not to grant planning permission for 3,200 new homes, a primary school, shops and a new ground for Lincoln City FC at Swanpool.
The £500m Western Growth Corridor, off Skellingthorpe Road, would also include 20 hectares of commercial premises and a regional sport and leisure complex featuring a new community stadium for the Imps, health and leisure facilities, a hotel and bars and restaurants and bars.
Green open spaces, cycle tracks and footpaths are part of the vision for the 240-hectare site which stretches from the A46 bypass in the east to Tritton Road in the west and from Skellingthorpe Road to the south to the railway and Fossdyke in the north.
However, residents have major concerns about traffic congestion and flooding.
The City of Lincoln Council says a new spine road through the scheme and a road bridge
