Derby’s long-standing train maker Alstom featured on Great British Railway Journeys on BBC2 today (Monday, September 2). During the show, which aired for 30 minutes from 6.30pm, saw commissioning director Craig Polland give Michael Portillo a tour of the manufacturing plant, which has been running since 1876.
The Litchurch Lane site was featured on series 14 of the popular BBC show as Michael toured the UK’s history of the transition from steam to diesel trains and now to green electric trains. Michael was given a detailed history of how Alstom has transformed from the Victorian trains to the trains of the modern day.
