Countryside homes on outskirts of Derbyshire village set for rejection

Plans for more than a dozen homes in the countryside on the outskirts of a Derbyshire village are set for refusal. The application, from Mrs C Potter, seeks planning permission to build 16 houses and two apartments on land off Clifton Road, Clifton, south-west of Ashbourne.

Derbyshire Dales District Council planning officers have recommended that the plans are refused, with councillors to make a final decision at a meeting on Tuesday, September 10. If approved, the scheme would involve two one-bed apartments, four two-bed houses, eight three-bed houses and four four-bed houses – totalling 18 homes.

This plan follows the council’s rejection in December, less than a year ago, of a scheme for nine homes on the site. That smaller scheme was refused by councillors due to the perceived “encroachment” into the open countryside and visual impact
