A teacher at a Derby school began a sexual relationship with one of the pupils there by firstly taking her into a cupboard in the art department and kissing her. Nottingham Crown Court heard how Bradley Amphlett then went on to book a hotel room where the pair had sexual intercourse.

When she left Alvaston Moor Academy, in Bracken’s Lane, the 26-year-old signed her shirt as is sometimes tradition with leavers. But from there, the pair went on to exchange “sexting” messages in which he asked her to call him “daddy” and he discussed his fantasies about what might have happened when they were first together in the cupboard.

Jonathon Dee, prosecuting, told the hearing how the defendant worked as an art and design teacher at Alvaston Moor and that he and the victim started “flirting” when she was in her final years at the academy.
