Four children have been released this evening (Tuesday) with no further action to be taken following the death of an 80-year-old man in Braunstone Town. One boy, 14, remains in custody following the death of Bhim Kohli on Sunday (September 1).
Police say Mr Kohli died after being assaulted in Franklin Park. The assault happened around 6.30pm, close to the park’s entrance in Bramble Way. Mr Kohli, from Leicester, was taken to hospital following the incident but died yesterday (Monday, September 2) evening.
A post-mortem examination has now been carried out and confirmed he died as a result of a neck injury, pending further tests. Leicestershire Police launched a murder investigation and five people – a boy and a girl aged 14 and one boy and two girls aged 12 – were arrested on suspicion of murder.
