Seven day DWP campaign to boost benefit uptake could net state pensioners £3,900 annually

The DWP is kicking off a campaign to boost the uptake of Pension Credit, which could be worth an average of £3,900 annually for successful applicants. The initiative, launching today, aims to raise awareness and increase claims for Pension Credit, which will also automatically qualify eligible pensioners for the Winter Fuel Payment from this year.

It's estimated that up to 880,000 pensioners could be missing out on this financial uplift, worth on average up to £3,900 per annum. Currently, around 880,000 pensioners are eligible to apply for Pension Credit but aren't claiming it.

The final date to make a successful backdated claim to receive the Winter Fuel Payment is 21 December.
