Usain Bolt has welcomed the new wave of talent overtaking his records, expressing his enthusiasm for "personalities" coming through in track and field. This week saw another milestone from Bolt's illustrious career toppled as 16-year-old Aussie Gout Gout dashed to a silver medal at the U20 World Championships in Peru. He clocked an impressive 20.60 seconds in the 200m, narrowly beating Bolt's time from 2002 when he was nearly 16.
The legendary sprinter had recorded 20.61 in the final back then but had run a slightly faster 20.58 in an earlier round. More than 20 years later, South Africa's Bayanda Walaza claimed gold with 20.54, and Britain's Jake Odey-Jordan took bronze with 20.81 seconds.
Previously in May, 16-year-old Nickecoy Bramwell of Jamaica outstripped Bolt's Under-17 400m world record by 0.07 seconds at the Carifta Games in Grenada,
