Wetherspoon pub in Derby acts as hub for feeding the homeless with 200 meals donated

A well-known Derby pub opened its doors to dozens of people to donate meals to the homeless as a part of a charity event. The target of the fundraiser was to donate 200 meals to the homeless using the Wetherspoons app at the Babington Arms, in Derby city centre on Monday (September 2).

The Spoonsthegame.com event was organised by Chris Illman who travels across the country holding the events to give back to the community. This comes after Chris himself was once homeless after a cancer diagnosis.

Chris, who is originally from the Portsmouth area, first set up the events in 2018 after his stint of homelessness. He said: “I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, split up with my wife and living in my car. I just wanted to pay back the help that
