World's most overcrowded country with three tourists to every local is in Europe

A European country has been named the most overcrowded tourist destination in the world - and it's not where most Brits are likely to guess.

Many people may think that Greece or Spain would suffer most from tourism with images showing throngs of holidaymakers swarming popular destinations have been making the rounds on social media.

Around the world there are plenty of other locations that have more than their fair share of tourists, but the country that has most visitors per local is actually Austria.

Research conducted by the team at MoneyTransfers.com reveals that the country in central Europe is the most crowded. The study found that for every local resident in Austria, there are 3.6 tourists. Despite having a population of just 8.9 million, the country welcomes around 32 million visitors each year.
