A group of pensioners feel "abandoned" and wish they'd never moved into their village neighbourhood after a series of issues. One home in Wallis Close, Thurcaston, near Leicester, has been left uninhabitable due to the issues.

The neighbourhood, known as Hunters Green, has 35 properties managed by Longhurst Housing and is supposed to have a site manager to look out for residents. However, many have told LeicestershireLive this is not the case, with many having to deal with messy gardens and a slow response to repairs.

A sewage leak has also left one home uninhabitable. David Sansome, 85, who has had to cut back a 6ft hedge this summer after the gardeners left it growing wild, said: "When we first came here it was superb but it's gone downhill so fast it's not true."
