Ocado issues statement after delivery van smashes into low bridge in Derby city centre

A dramatic image shows a delivery van almost split into two pieces after colliding with a low bridge in Derby city centre. The underpass - or tunnel - forms part of Derwent Street and passes beneath St Alkmund's Way, taking motorists from River Gardens towards Nottingham Road.

The image was captured at around 9.45am on Tuesday, September 3 and shows a broken Ocado delivery van in the middle of the road. The collision with the bridge, which is just 2.5 metres tall and has chains hanging above the entrance, seems to have almost split the refrigerated van in two and shows stacks of groceries on their side, trailing behind the vehicle.
