Painswick, often dubbed "The Queen of the Cotswolds", is a gem tucked away in the region and makes for a perfect day out.

This charming village stands as one of the most well-preserved spots in the Cotswolds, having retained its enchanting character over the years, all while being surrounded by breathtaking rural landscapes.

Its slender streets are home to England's oldest operational Post Office and the country's most historic bowling green. Visitors should not miss the opportunity to explore St Mary's church, encircled by 99 yew trees, creating one of the most unique churchyards in England.

The medieval church is renowned for its tower housing 14 bells and features more than 300 intricately embroidered kneelers depicting scenes from the Bible, according to the Express.
