One of the wackiest sporting events returned to Derbyshire for its 50th year running, as the World Toe wrestling Championship took place on Saturday, August 31.
Organisers said participants from all over the world were welcomed, including from Canada, America, Pakistan, India and China. The international sport is currently trying to secure a spot in the 2028 LA Olympics - however details have not emerged of the progress.
For those that aren’t avid Toe Wrestling spectators, the sport includes locking feet and in an arm wrestle type struggle the competitors try to topple the other in a specially built “toedium”.

This year's winners of the championship were Ben Woodraffe, aka ‘Toe-tal Destruction’, for the men's category and Lisa ‘TwinkleToes’ Shenton, who both fiercely defended their titles.
