Motorists are being urged to remove "three items" from their vehicles in September as charges increase. By eliminating unnecessary and heavy items, drivers could reduce their petrol and diesel usage by one to two percent.
Sports equipment and roof racks have been identified as the two main culprits, with motorists also advised to clear out their boots. Tim Rodie, a driving expert at Motorpoint, commented: "It's easy to leave things lurking at the bottom of your boot, but you won't be doing yourself any favours when it comes to saving fuel. The lighter your car is, the less fuel you'll need to drive it.
