An elderly Leicestershire couple fear they could be left homeless after being issued with a no-fault eviction notice. William and Julie Wiley, both 79, said they were issued with the Section 21 notice in July after their landlord’s son had taken over their Loughborough home and decided to sell.

They were given until next Friday (September 13) to pack up and move out, they told LeicestershireLive. The couple were already on Charnwood Borough Council’s housing register as Mr Wiley’s poor health meant they were looking to move into a bungalow, and started actively bidding when they got the notice.

However, with a week left to go, they now fear they will not find a suitable property in time and will be made homeless, claiming they have had no support from the council. A spokesman for Charnwood Borough Council told LeicestershireLive the authority has given advice to the couple, but
