Pipe bursts in Derby city centre sending water 10 metres into the air

Shoppers in Derby city centre watched on as a burst pipe sent water high into the sky on Thursday (September 5) afternoon. The city's latest - and unexpected - water feature has spouted from the roadworks along Victoria Street, between Corn Market and St Peters Street.

Footage from the scene shows excited pedestrians looking up at the fountain, with one shopper lifting their arms in excitement, seemingly embracing the extra rainfall on an already wet and windy day. A black Hackney carriage cab can also be seen evading the downpour.
