One of the last schools to get a two-word Ofsted ranking is rated

Despite being told by inspectors it "requires improvement", the head of a school's academy trust is upbeat about "the many positive findings" in its newly-published Ofsted report.

Alavston Junior Academy is part of The Harmony Trust and chief executive Antony Hughes said: "The findings show Alvaston Junior is going in the right direction post-Covid and its legacy. Behaviour and attitudes were judged 'good' because of the high expectations on pupils.

"And Ofsted noted that pupils were also benefiting from the trust's ‘broad and ambitious inspire curriculum', the school's high-quality pastoral support, and the impact of our inclusion hub on children with additional needs.

"We are pleased that the inspectors recognised Alvaston’s journey of improvement, and their report highlighted how we have a robust improvement plan in place."
