A Leicester street was closed over "falling masonry" from a church. Emergency services were called to Highcross Street on Saturday afternoon (September 28) after stonework fell from All Saints Church.
Leicestershire Police initially said officers were responding to an "incident" on the street between Vaughan Way and Sanvey Gate, with a cordon put in place at the scene. People in the area were advised to find alternative routes.
Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service later confirmed the reason for the road closure at around 3.30pm. It said the road was closed off to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
The fire service said: "We were called at 3:30pm to reports of falling masonry from the All Saints Church on High Cross Street. An aerial ladder and an appliance were sent to the scene after a small amount of stonework fell from a building.
