Derby A38 reopens after crash causes major delays for rush-hour motorists

Derbyshire motorists were facing major delays this morning following a crash on the A38. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance after a car "left the carriageway" at around 6am on Monday (September 30).

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We are currently in attendance at a road traffic collision on the A38 northbound near the Abbey Hill Island. Please be aware there may be delays on your journey this morning."

The closure was also confirmed by traffic monitoring site Inrix, which said queuing traffic was building in the area. A spokesperson for the traffic monitoring service said: "The A38 northbound is closed from the A61 Alfreton Road to the B6179 Derby Road.

"This is due to an accident leaving one lane closed and queuing traffic in the area. It is believed a vehicle has left the carriageway."
