Flood alerts are in place across Lincolnshire following Monday's "relentless" rain - with river levels set to remain high for days. The Environment Agency says South Lincolnshire and Gainsborough could both be affected by flooding on Tuesday (October 1).
The agency issues three types of flood warning, with a flood alert meaning that flooding is possible and that people should prepare. It also issues flood warnings, which mean that flooding is expected. Severe flood warnings are put in place when flooding could cause a risk to life and significant disruption to communities.
There are no flood warnings or severe flood warnings for Lincolnshire, but two flood alerts are in place. In Gainborough, this is due to water levels rising at the Torksey river gauge. The South Lincolnshire flood alert follows rising levels in the River Welland after heavy rainfall.
