Renters in Leicestershire are facing some of the steepest price hikes in the country, with increases far exceeding the national average. Rent prices in the county have seen substantial jumps over the past year, with some areas experiencing rises of more than 20 per cent.
People renting homes in England paid an average of £1,327 a month in the year to August 2024, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics. This represents an average increase of 8.5 per cent over the year in both England and Wales, the Reach Data Unit said.
Melton tops the list in Leicestershire with a 21.1 per cent increase, bringing average rents to £786 a month, while even the smallest rise in the county - 7.4 per cent in North West Leicestershire
