'Immediate action required' as river levels rise

The Environment Agency has issued an urgent flood warning for properties near the A6 in Loughborough as river levels continue to rise following heavy rainfall. Residents in affected areas are being urged to take immediate action to protect themselves and their property.

The flood warning, issued today, Tuesday, October 1, specifically targets the Wood Brook and River Soar at Loughborough, including areas around Loughborough Meadows, the Industrial Estates, and Queen's Park.

Areas north of the A6 in Loughborough, including business properties around Belton Road, are identified as being at particularly high risk.

Officials report that the Lisle Street river gauge has recorded a significant rise in water levels, prompting concerns of widespread flooding. Flooding of property is expected from 2pm today.
