A Leicestershire road has seen an increase in “serious” crashes according to fire crews. Firefighters at Coalville Station said they had seen a rise in incidents on the A511 between Little Shaw Lane and J22 of the M1 for Markfield.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said that the rise in collisions was believed to “primarily be caused by changing weather conditions”. It was revealed that in August in North West Leicestershire there were four crashes, while in September there were 13.
The “low sun obscuring vision” and “recent wet weather making the road surface slippery” were also suggested as reasons for more collisions. The spokesperson said: “The main advice that we would give drivers is to ensure that they are driving to the road conditions and take account
