A country road near Derby has been closed by police after suspicious devices were found in the River Derwent. Makeney Road at Duffield Bridge, Duffield, is closed in both directions after reports of two "suspected munitions" in the river at around 10.50am today (Friday ,November 8).
Derbyshire police have warned motorists to avoid the area while the road is closed. A spokesperson for the force said: "Makeney Road at Duffield Bridge, Duffield, has been closed after reports that two suspected munitions were found in the River Derwent at 10.50am today.
"The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been contacted and the road will remain closed for some time until the specialist unit attends. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes."
