Historic Peak District pub to close for major revamp worth £350,000

A Grade II-listed 19th-century pub is to close for a major refurbishment. The Peacock, located in the middle of Peak District at Owler Bar, is set to shut on Monday, November 18 and reopen under new ownership before the festive period.

The venue is set to reopen its doors on Wednesday, December 11 following an expected investment of £350,000. The investment has been funded by Concorde BGW group, which has designed the other Longbow sites such as The Ashford Arms, The Maynard and The George at Hathersage.

The focus of the revamp will be keeping as many of its original features as possible, such as the solid oak floors and leaded windows and beams. The refurbishment will also include a brand-new external seating area to take in the breathtaking views across the moorland, locatedon the old turnpike road to Chatsworth House and
