Plans to convert a former Leicester hosiery factory into student accommodation has angered many LeicestershireLive readers. Some have claimed the city "has to stop" approving similar schemes and instead favour afforable housing for all.
The revised plan for the former NS Waite building, in Leicester's Henshaw Street, was approved by officials at Leicester City Council despite some long-term fears over living conditions for residents. The scheme will see the three-storey factory redeveloped into a six-storey block of student flats, with 45 small apartment studios across the floors.
However, the approval has not gone down well with LeicestershireLive readers - especially after the scheme was initially refused in 2021. CommenerFeedee said: "No more student flats, this has to stop. We need homes for our own. Councils need to stop this."
