Completion forecasts for two multimillion-pound schemes in a Derbyshire town have improved but are still set to overrun. A major overhaul of Long Eaton High Street, led by £10 million in Government funding, is now due to be completed in August 2026 instead of October 2026, says Erewash Borough Council.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Row Cinema scheme, in Derby Road, priced at between £5 million and £9 million in Government funding, involving demolition and replacement with homes, flats and shops, is now also due to be finished in August 2026 instead of May 2027. However, both of these projects are still due to significantly exceed the Government’s £25 million Town Deal funding deadline of March 2026, after which it faces being clawed back.
