Business units approved on former Derbyshire mining site despite road safety and speeding worries

A series of small business units have been approved on a former Derbyshire mining site despite concerns about speeding cars and a history of crashes nearby. The plans, from DLS Homes, would see an industrial unit with space for four businesses built in Park Road, between Stanton and Newhall, on a derelict former Bretby Colliery site.

At a South Derbyshire District Council meeting on Tuesday evening (November 12) councillors approved the scheme despite concerns about road safety past the proposed site. The site, which contains derelict red brick buildings, was hit by a fire in September and has long been covered in graffiti.
