Naomi Tweddle chosen as next City of Lincoln Council leader following Ric Metcalfe's retirement

A new City of Lincoln Council leader has been selected following the retirement of long-standing Labour councillor Ric Metcalfe who served as leader for 21 years. Councillor Naomi Tweddle was nominated to replace him following an internal ballot of Lincoln Labour Party colleagues earlier this week.

Councillor Tweddle has been a Labour councillor for the Minster ward since 2016, and the executive member for inclusive economic growth for the past year. Prior to this, she was was chair of the council's planning committee.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Councillor Tweddle grew up on the Ermine estate and still lives in the city with her young family. She attended St Peter and St Paul's school prior to going to the University of Leicester and currently works as Head of the Case Unit for the union UNISON in the East Midlands.
